University of MarylandWhat is Power Shift 2007?
Power Shift is the first ever national youth climate summit, involving thousands of youth from all over the nation, from every walk of life, and from every racial, ethnic, income, ideological, and religious group.

Where is Power Shift located and when will it happen?
The conference will take place at the University of Maryland - College Park, from November 2-5, 2007.

What's the price of admission?
The registration fee is $20 before Oct. 1st and $40 after. When you register online you can also contribute to our scholarship program, which will help fund young people who need financial assistance to attend the conference.

What does my registration fee include?
The registration fee covers the entire weekend of amazing speakers, panels, workshops, presentations, a career fair, and a lot more. It does not include housing or food.

Where can I stay during Power Shift?

What is our game plan?
We are going to mobilize, network, learn, teach, make a statement, and lobby congress to make some real progress on climate change.

Will I have to miss school/work?
Probably. The conference takes place on a Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. For most, this will require missing a day of school or work. Power Shift will be a truly once in a lifetime event, a real opportunity to change the course of human history. What’s a couple of days of class or work compared to that?

Who will be speaking?
We are working to line up the best of the best from every relevant field. The agenda is under wraps for now, but let's just say you'll be blown away. Check www.powershift07.org regularly for updates...

Why should I come?
Because 1) as a young person it is you and your children who will face the consequences of not stopping climate change now, and 2) only our generation has the moral authority, the will and the vision to lead our nation toward a clean, just and renewable energy future.

How do I get in touch with people from my area going to the conference?
We are currently working on a system that will let you do just that. Check back soon!

Are travel scholarships available?
Yes, a limited number are available for both groups and individuals. You can find out more on our Travel Scholarships page.

What about the carbon impacts of getting to Power Shift?
We recognize that there is a significant carbon impact in bringing all of us together in one place. We believe that the work we will do together during the event and the following Power Shift is worth the carbon impact of everyone's travel to Maryland. In order to offset some of the energy impacts of Power Shift, Native Energy has donated 500 tons of carbon offsets to reduce our energy impacts at Power Shift 2007. Native Energy's donation offsets all of the electricity use on the University of Maryland campus throughout the weekend as well as a significant amount of the estimated travel emissions that it took for us all to come together. To ensure that your carbon footprint is offset, go to www.NativeEnergy.com
Offsets are not a perfect solution, but supporting companies like Native Energy can go a long way in helping to build more renewable energy in the U.S. You can learn more about their projects at: http://www.nativeenergy.com/projects.html

Are Registration Fees Tax Deductible?
Yes. "Donations given above and beyond your own registration fee are tax deductible to the fullest extent provided by law, under the provisions of Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3).
